The first printing of The Technique of Film Music by Roger Manvell and John Huntley (Focal Press, 1957) contains a 55-page discography. Included are a special series of direct soundtrack recordings issued by the
J. Arthur Rank Organization in London. These records were not available commercially, but complete sets were issued to the permanent record libraries of radio and television stations in about sixty countries. These recordings are indicated in the discography with the letters "F.M." From time to time these recordings have been issued on LP and CD. Tony Thomas issued an LP called "The Golden Age of British Film Music." The Vocalion label released an album in 2008 called "Music from the Movies" which features a few selections from the Rank recordings, as well as other film music on labels like HMV and Decca.Click here to see the discography.
